FBI Documents Reveal Secret Nationwide Occupy Monitoring
Yesterday The Partnership for Civil Justice Fund obtained an FBI document through The Freedom of Information Act about their nationwide monitoring of the Occupy Movement. The document was heavily redacted by the FBI before it’s release to the public, but the actions by the organization are pretty clear. OWS was organized explicitly a peaceful protest, and yet the government monitored and reported on it as a terrorist threat even before the first protesters where on the ground.
“These documents show that the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security are treating protests against the corporate and banking structure of America as potential criminal and terrorist activity. These documents also show these federal agencies functioning as a de facto intelligence arm of Wall Street and Corporate America.”
